Certificate in Coaching Skills
Introduction
The Certificate in Coaching is a pragmatic coaching skills course which will provide you with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to enable you to become a successful coach.
This coaching skills qualification will enable you to gain entry into the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning as a full member.
Who Should Attend?
The Certificate in Coaching Skills is recommended for the following groups of people:
- Line managers and team leaders who need to develop coaching skills as part of their core people management skills
- Those with a full-time training, or learning and development role seeking to develop their coaching skills as part of their career development
- Leaders and senior managers who are looking to develop their leadership coaching skills
- Those entering management roles within the learning and development profession who seek to develop the unique roles within their new domain.
We can accommodate a maximum of 6 attendees with one facilitator on this coaching skills certificate programme. Alternatively, we can provide this qualification on a one to one basis.
Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, attendees will be able to:
- Plan, prepare, and run a series of coaching sessions
- Use a range of approaches and coaching skills to support coaching clients
- Apply the GROW model as a planning and coaching session framework
- Contract for results and enable clients to develop SMART goals and realistic action plans
- Apply the STAR technique to explore problematic situations
- Apply the ABC Cognitive Behavioural Approach to help clients identify and move on from self-limiting beliefs
- Apply effective questioning, active listening, rapport building, challenging and feedback skills to their practise coaching sessions
- Develop their coaching style based on feedback, supervision and self-reflection
Success Criteria
In order to qualify for the award of a Certificate in Coaching, the participant must:
- Fully attend the coaching skills programme
- Achieve a minimum of 10 hours of coaching practise within agreed timescales
- Maintain a coaching log that has been assessed as satisfactory by the programme facilitator
- Demonstrate coaching skills during the programme that have been assessed as satisfactory by the programme facilitator
- Complete a written assignment of approximately 2500 words
- Achieve feedback from a coaching client and a co-supervisor which shows the attendee has implemented the learning from the programme to a satisfactory level
Programme Duration
The ITOL Certificate in Coaching consists of:
- Four days consisting, one x 2 day module and two x 1 day modules of face-to-face training
- An assignment of approximately 2500 words
- A minimum of 10 hours coaching practise by each attendee
- Completion and submission of coaching skills logs to include coaching client notes, front sheets, and reflection notes
- Coaching client feedback by the end of the programme
- Co-supervision write up by the start of Module 3
